Why We Need to Use Tools Like Clustering to Better Program the Music on Our Radio Stations

I've shared this with some of my friends who are programmers, and it was so well received that I'd like to let you and others know about it as well.

This is a TED presentation from Malcolm Gladwell who wrote two phenomenally successful business books: The Tipping Point and Blink.

Here, he talks about how it is wrong to only use simple mean scores. He shows us how the power of clustering and shared identities to transform a radio station and become far more successful.

Okay, I must confess that he actually talks about spaghetti sauce instead of music. But the principle is EXACTLY the same!

The power of clustering!

I think you’ll love this.

It is interesting to think about, yes?
